High unpredictability of the earthquake and the recent earthquake caused huge casualtiesand economic losses. It makes the scholars and engineers to review the traditional seismicdesign theory and seismic design, In order to improve the structural seismic design theory andmethods. So the theory of performance一based seismic design which was introduced byAmerican scholar becomes an important direction for seismic design. The pushover analysismethod, the main tool for this theory, is widely interested in home and abroad.The main research work and achievements of the paper are as fallows:(1)This thesis introduces the performance一based seismic design theory and itsdevelopment. It discusses the pushover analysis methods in domestic and internationaldevelopment, research and application. It narrates and juxtaposes some typical pushoveranalysis methods and those merits and drawbacks were given in this paper.(2)Using PKPM software do structure design for this structure and put beam, slab,column reinforcement plotted on a graph.(3)The coercion of the inter一story drift ratio is a very important index in the structuralengineering design. The seismic performance objective in this structure can be determine bythe inter一story drift ratio can availably control the seismic performance objective underdifferent earthquake levels. And it transform the inter一story drift ratio to the biggestdisplacement of the building.(4) Take a real structure for example, a static pushover analysis was made for a5一stories concrete frame under four different lateral load patterns, and how the different lateralload patterns affect the story drifts and the distribution of plastic hinges was also studied, andthe rational lateral load pattern was gotten for the evaluation of seismic performance ofbuildings.(5) A real structure was analyzed by pushover method and the evaluation of seismicperformance of the building. Compared with the structural seismic performance predefinedthe structural design was modified. The application of pushover analysis in seismicperformance design was investigated which was proved to be valuable in practice.
