Automobile industry is the pillar industry of national economy in our country, with the increasing of the amount of automobile production and ownership, it has had a more and more serious impact on the whole ecological system including resources, environment and human beings, and caused great challenges for the sustainable development of our country. Faced with such a serious problem, people begin to focus on the development of new energy vehicles, especially the electric cars. Electric cars not noly reduce the oil consumption but also greatly have no emissions during moving phase. However, this only aims at car using stage, but does’t analyze quantitatively the effects on the resources and environment from the angle of the whole life cycle, which creates certain dispute. In that context, the article introduces the theory and method of life cycle assessment, modeled dynamic system of electric vehicle and gas car using GaBi software, and analyzed with the corresponding evaluation method.First of all, the origin of life cycle assessment and its application in the field of automobile were reviewed, and it elaborated the evaluation model and evaluation tool of the life cycle, on the basis the research idea of the article was put forward.This article selected dynamical system of Liebao Feiteng SUV and battery electric vehicle with the same model as the research object. By analysing and definiting the research objectives and scope, the data acquisition and hypothesis, the evaluation framework, it established life cycle assessment model of car power system. On this basis, this article collected data and analyzed listing through the form of on-the-spot investigation and expert visiting, and then modeled two dynamic system using GaBi software from four stages of raw materials acquisition, manufacturing, using and eventually scrap recycling, and elaborated logistics transportation and other stages.It disposesd the results with the methods of characteristic, normalization and quantification using the CML and CML correction model, got evaluation index of the mineral resources depletion, the fossil energy depletion as well as the environmental impact load of two power system life cycle, the assessment result showed that other than the fossil energy depletion, mineral resource depletion and the environmental impact load comprehensive value of dynamical system of BEV all exceed ICEV. In order to find out the main reason for the environmental impact, the article do deep analysis on key factors for environmental impact, such as analyzing the sensitivity of main indicators (power consumption of hundreds of kilometers, battery charging efficiency and production energy consumption) that affected the environmental emissions of the battery electric vehicle, and did scenario analysis on energy structure in China as well. On the basis, the article proposed targeted measures for reducing the potential environmental impacts.
