Electromagnetic brake is an important mechanical equipment of the machinery ofmetallurgy, construction, chemical industry, elevators, ships, packaging, machine tools, stageand other important mechanical equipment on the safety brake. These machines equipmentoperation safety reliability directly affect the people’s life safety and production work. Ifelectric brake failure occurred during work, but can’t timely for braking and eliminate, theresult would not only damage to the machinery equipment, even cause safety accidents. So thesafe operation of the electromagnetic brake is very important. In order to avoid the seriousconsequences of the above, this article by analyzing the working principle, performanceindicators and the causes of failure of the electromagnetic brake works, putting forward a kindof real-time detection of electromagnetic brake performance and fault prediction method andelectromagnetic brake performance test and fault forecasting system was developed.This paper mainly studies the following contents:Firstly, based on institutional characteristics and principle analysis of the electromagneticbrake, summed up the electromagnetic brake performance and real-time performancemonitoring and fault forecasting method is proposed. The method through detection of theelectromagnetic brake disc brake clearance, friction coefficient, elasticity coefficient and thetemperature of the winding parameters timely to detect brake braking performance, and makespredictions about the faults that may occur.Secondly, according to the method of performance test and fault forecasting, design theelectromagnetic brake real-time performance test and fault prediction system. This systembased on the chip dsPIC30F4011, completed the power supply circuits, voltage and currentacquisition circuits, thyristor control circuit, display circuits, keypad circuits, alarm circuits asthe hardware system design. To guarantee performance testing and fault forecasting, we useassembler to write the real-time system software. The software system including the mainprogram, parameters collection, performance measurement and failure prediction program,display a program and press the test subroutine.Thirdly, to test and verify the feasibility of proposed performance measurement andfailure prediction methods, as well as the effectiveness of the design system, building an electromagnetic brake platform and do the related experimental tests. Insufficient laboratorysimulates the braking torque, working temperature fault, then collected signal characteristicextraction and analysis processing. The experimental results show that this approach isfeasible. Through analysis and processing the brake process of inductance, resistance is ableto detect brake current performance status is normal or not, and predict brake faultsuccessfully. At the same time, results proved the system to be successful and effective, canmeet the requirements of real-time on-line monitoring and failure prediction.This research enriches the electromagnetic brake performance test and fault forecastingmethod and is conducive to mechanical equipment stable, reliable operation and reduces thefrequency of failure. Hope to provide some value in practical applications.
