Automotive steering system is a system to change or keep the car driving or reversing, the function of it is the direction of the control intend of the car driver. It directly affects the vehicle steering stability and active safety, the car driving safety is very important. It has experienced mechanical steering system, hydraulic power steering system, electric power steering system and steer-by-wire system.The application of steer-by-wire system, refers to the connection of cars between steering wheel and front wheel by a wire. Steering system is connected to the embedded computer and send control signal to drive device, drive device can feedback information to the steering system.Steer-by-wire system is a new and sophisticated electronic control system, it has not yet reached the traditional mechanical steering system, hydraulic power steering system, electric power steering system’ reliability. In addition, the hardware in loop test can detect various conditions to find out the lacking of the control system, and shorten the development cycle, reduce the cost. So, the hardware in loop test is essential for developing wire control steering system.This paper mainly carried out the following work:(1) Build steer-by-wire system model based on Adams:build steer-by-wire system model, and assembly to the vehicle,then co-simulate with MATLAB, simulate under two different conditions, to verify the steer-by-wire system is feasible.Proved the rationality of the control strategy.(2) Study steer-by-wire control strategy:access to foreign and domestic about steer-by-wire system control strategy and the technology, and carries on the summary, the active steering control strategy and the road feel control strategy for the main purpose of this paper is to study, of two kinds of control strategy of fuzzy control, and co simulation with Adams vehicle model.(3)Build a steer-by-wire system of hardware in the loop: first analysis test bench, the composition and function of each part, put forward specific technical requirements, and according to the requirements and taking into account the cost and laboratory conditions and other factors to choose the components, and ultimately build to complete the hardware in the loop test bench.
