China’s high-speed railway network is being formed, the business needs of the network is constantly increasing,Such as IP data communications networks, railway video monitoring and so on, The transmission network is expected not only to provide high-capacity bandwidth, to meet the needs of broadband services, but also to provide a functional end-to-end network operations、Administration and management (OAM) capabilities.This makes the business needs of large particles and the railway optical transmission network bandwidthare dramatically increasing, while enhance the network security requirements.With OTN transmission technology gradually expand the application in high speed railway backbone network, the huge transmission capacity requirements highlight the survivability of the network. This makes network reliability and survivability to bechallenged, it will also bring great risks in railway operation.In such cases of the huge transmission capacity, once the network fails,it will bring huge economic losses and bad social impact, causing a huge impact and losses in railway network.With the massive deployment of OTN equipment, OTN network with other networks joint networking has become an important issue. OTN with existing SDH/WDM network joint networking, OTN with IP network joint networking as well as network security and reliability has become the focus of research. The joint network of OTN with SDH、IP which based on OTN can optimize the network structure, improve utilization of network bandwidth.The main contents and results of this paper are as follows:Analysis and research networking mode and network structures of OTN, SDH and IP networks that applied in railway Respectively, summarize their commonly used protection way.For the case of OTN and SDH joint networking, through the research of two techniques which applied in railway, proposed three OTN and SDH protection coordination program under joint networking, test them in lab environment, analysis test data, proposed possible improper protection coordination in programs,and the corresponding solutions are given. In addition, given each of the characteristics of the three network, combined the actual situation on the railway, applingrecommendations in railway of the each scenario are given.
