In1978after the reform and opening up, especially in the latter half of the20th century, China’s modernization of the rapid development of economy,accompanied by the rapid development, engineering in the field of infrastructureand some large-scale key projects also in hot air heat. Its scope involves manyareas such as municipal engineering, construction engineering, mechanical andelectrical engineering, highway engineering, bridge engineering, railwayengineering, and water conservancy projects. The achievements of the highway,water conservancy and railway are the most remarkable.. These three basicengineering fields often need through the mountains, the retaining wall is moreand more in the engineering construction.In this paper, the theory to the horizontal displacement of rigid retainingwall as the research object, through the finite element software ANSYSnumerical analysis of retaining backfill passive non limit state of relativedisplacement, and relative displacement of soil arching effect and study of soil arch shape, nature, the combination of horizontal differential element analysismethod to study the non limit state of passive earth pressure size, distributionand so on. The research work of this paper is as follows:(1) The retaining wall to the direction of the soil occurred some horizontaldisplacement, the soil is in non limit state, the wall backfill area of relativedisplacement and the shape is trapezoidal. The relative displacement range isinfluenced by wall displacement, friction angle of backfill soil and elasticmodulus of backfill soil. The relative displacement range increases when thedisplacement of the wall increases. The relative displacement area decreaseswhen the internal friction angle increases. The relative displacement rangeincreases when the elastic modulus of the backfill increases.(2) At the back of retaining wall is non limit state passive earth pressure bythe displacement of the wall, backfill soil angle of internal friction and elasticmodulus of backfill. With the displacement of the wall and the backfill soilfriction angle increases, the passive earth pressure, total soil pressure increases,together effect reduced.(3) The rigid retaining wall to the translational mode squeezing soil,numerical study of passive non limit state should force trajectory, principalstress arch curve is an “e” at the end of the exponential curve. The main stresssoil arch curve is influenced by wall displacement and internal friction angle ofbackfill after wall.. The wall displacement increases, the curvature of the soilarch curve increases, the curve is more and more curved, the friction angle of soil increases, the curvature of soil arch curve decreases, the curve is more andmore smooth.(4) The use of passive under non limit state of soil arching curve analysisof retaining wall under non limit state passive earth pressure coefficient.Combined with a horizontal layer analysis method, a retaining wall under nonlimit state distribution of passive earth pressure, force size and the calculationtheory.
