As the largest base airlines in Kunming airport, China Eastern Airlines assumes nearly fifty percent of the passenger and cargo throughput. During the construction of the Kunming Changshui Airport, Eastern Airlines’base project of Kunming Changshui Airport also played an important role. The milestones of the equipment engineering tend to be the controlling nodes of Eastern Airlines’Kunming Changshui Airport base project. If all can be accomplished on schedule, not only the smooth transitions of Eastern Airlines can be determined, but the expansion of the main business can be assured. Under this background, this paper will study on the equipment engineering schedules, implementations and the influence factors, with the aim of achieving some beneficial conclusions, so as to provide a reference for the equipment engineering schedule management of Eastern Airlines’base projects in other domestic airline hubs.Learning from the methods and tools of the project schedule management field, this paper analyzed the equipment engineering of Eastern Airlines’Kunming Changshui Airport base project. The first step was to collect project related information, make a summary and review of the general conditions, schedule planning, implementations and controlling of the equipment engineering. The next step was to make a comparison between the schedule planning and the schedule implementation, finding out the big differences between the planning duration and the real duration, particularly during the three phrases of the purchase of equipment and the signing of contract, the manufacturing and transporting of the equipment, the installation and debugging of the equipment, with the difference degrees being67%,75%,73%, respectively. Next, this paper analyzed deeply the duration differences of the equipment engineering, and figured out the14specific factors influencing the equipment engineering duration by utilizing the causal analysis method. On this basis, this paper adopted the mandatory scoring method to conduct evaluations so as to determine the main factors influencing the equipment engineering duration. The first five factors are: the lacking of the clients’supervision, the buckpassing between suppliers due to the parallel contracting model, the weak executive power of the contract terms, the lacking of the equipment engineering management staff, the irrationality of the schedule planning. At last, targeting the main factors, this paper put forward the five solutions from the aspects of management, contracting, organizational structure, etc. combining the Eastern Airlines’corporate features and management models. The five solutions are: to introduce the special examination system for the engineering project, improving staff’s working enthusiasm; to choose appropriate contracting methods according to the features of the equipment engineering; to improve the executive power of the contract; to pay special attention to the technical personnel reserve for the equipment engineering; to make reasonable schedule plan and reinforce the supervision of the five solutions implementations.This paper reviewed and evaluated the equipment engineering schedule management of Eastern Airlines’Kunming Changsha Airport base project, with the conclusions waiting for the further test of the equipment engineering of Eastern Airlines’base projects in other airports (e.g. Beijing, Wuhan, Lijiang). Personally, I will also pay a constant attention to the future construction of Eastern Airlines’base projects, perfecting the weaknesses of this paper.
