Manufacturing industry is the pillar industry of the national economy, it is in a stage of rapid development. However, complex manufacturing system is composed of many manufacturing elements, operation of the system is affected by a large number of random factors, traditional methods of manufacturing system’s design, implementation and control is hard to achieve the desired effect. How to use scientific analysis means to accurately and efficiently grasp the basic situation of the entire manufacturing system is crucial for the enterprise. Taking into account the manufacturing and assembling of car rear axle is the representation of manufacturing system, so this paper chooses the car rear axle assembly line of a company as the research object, simulation research on the assembly line while mathematical modeling, realistically simulate the production process of the system. Finally, according to the simulation results, it can optimize and improve the assembly line, provide a strong reference for enterprise to make long-term production planning and decision-making.Firstly, this paper details the production profile of semi-floating rear axle assembly line of the rear axle manufacturing enterprise. At the same time it focuses on the assembly line process flow, and gives a detailed description of the details such as the work content of each process and the necessary equipment and resources. Research on the acquisition methods of production data, enter deeply into assembly plant to get the working hours of assembly line as an input parameter of simulation research. Then, focus on the production sequencing problem of the assembly line, on the basis of the establishing of objective function, it establishes the mathematical model of the assembly line production sequencing problem.Then, introduced the methods and procedures of setting up assembly line system Petri net model. Based on the process flow of assembly line, it sets up a whole assembly line model of flow and a sub-model based on process units, thereby establishes a general Petri net model of assembly line, and analyzes the basic performance of the model.Secondly, this paper uses the simulation software Flexsim as the simulation platform, sets simulation parameters, on this basis to build the Flexsim simulation model of the rear axle assembly line. Based on the analysis of model process and simulation results, It founds the main problems that exist in the assembly line, on this basis to use basic industrial engineering method to plan and adjust process content of assembly line, and further optimize the operational details, at the same time manage the production site using“5s” method. Then, based on the mathematical model of production sequencing problem, combined Genetic Algorithms with Matlab graphics and reasonably arranged the production sequence of assembly line, effectively reduced the idle and overload.Finally, using Flexsim to model and simulate the optimized assembly line again, outputting the related simulation data and charts, comparing and analyzing the data that before and after assembly line improving, founding that production bottlenecks、production efficiency and the overall balance have been optimized after assembly line improving. So that the assembly line has gotten the optimum production and processing performance. It can bring real economic benefits for the enterprise, and has its practical significance.
