The rapid development of GPS technology making itself widely used in many fields because of its unique advantages. In some practical engineering application of surveying and mapping, the GPS for its characteristics such as high precision, intelligence, all-weather ha s a very broad prospects.Based on GPS technology, this paper analyzes both the theory of GPS and the error source in detail, and studies the differential GPS technology with its application in the high-rise building.This thesis introduces the structure of GPS system, and analyzes the GPS system of c ommunication based on GPS signals including carrier, pseudo code and data code.Then it in detail analyzes the principle of the GPS positioning, discuss the pseudo-range positioning and carrier phase measurement;And ithis paper explores the error source that influcing GP S, such as the the atmosphere delay error and the multipath effect and so on.Secondly,differential GPS technology are introduced in detail in this paper, the differen tial GPS system in practical application: local area differential system and wide area differe ntial system.And it analyzes the key of the GPS precise positioning: the determination of a mbiguity of carrier phase measurement.It analysis and dicusses two algorithms solving ambi guity : pseudo-range and the LAMBDA algorithm, improve the precision of carrier phase measurement.This thesis also discusses the application of GPS system in high-rise building, after stu died two kinds of measurement data processing, the method of weighted average and the li near interpolation method, good results have been achieved.Then this paper discusses the G PS positioning technique in an applied in practical engineering, using GPS measurement of vertical deflection, the whole process was deduced, and get the relationship between the ba seline length andcomponent angle of deviation error.At the end of the paper has designed a GPS data acquisition system based on ARM d evelopment board to provide technical support for the previous theory.
