Hospital building is arising with the development of human society. With the development of the society and people's living standards improving, we come to understand the hospital building design has an important influence on medical environment. People's demand for medical environment is slowly rising. In the past, we always get a negative impression to the medical environment, such as "disorganized", "noisy" and "crowded". An important way to change this situation is to establish a good and convenient hospital building transfer flow lines. As urban populations continue to increase, and with land stressing, hospital building also have to gradually to be the high-rise buildings. While the design of vertical transport organization to the hospital building is especially important. Vertical transport organizations of a good and orderly environment make users pleasurable and could avoid patients'upset. It reflects on the patient' s physical, mental and psychological in triple care. It is positive to patients, family members or medical staffs. At present we have began to pay attention to vertical transport organization design, but the specifications related to vertical transportation need further complement and perfection. This article takes ten hospital buildings for example which are reconstruction and expansion to new or high-rise hospital buildings in Guangzhou. By investigating, I found some deficiencies in vertical transportation in these buildings. By researching and calculating the flat organization and elevator numbers, referring to a popular used elevator service quality assessment index, I made a set of formulas to calculate the number of elevators in hospital building. This set of formulas could be a reference to vertical transport organization design in the high-rise hospital building in the future.
