Chinese classical garden art is the most outstanding part of human buildings as well as precious cultural heritage in the world, which contains Chinese traditional culture value, aesthetic connotation and special function. It is rich in artistic conception formation, spatial distribution and modeling design, furthermore, it shows great originality at use of color. The color of Chinese classical garden is the external identification of gardens, and as an integral part of building construction. Though the royal gardens are fabulous, private gardens are elegant, they are of great help in Chinese modern scenery design, such as the integral color configuration rules of Chinese classical garden, the color freehand brushwork in Chinese traditional design, the color of humanity connotation, the association between the use of color and garden and aesthetic subject. It has become an important issue to how to inherit its positive meaning and create and develop with present aesthetic demand.This article will use comparative research, literature analysis, data analysis and case analysis to make in-depth exploration and systematic research on the use of Chinese classical gardening, the art formation of Chinese classical gardening, and the difference and similarity in color to inductive the constitution rules of Chinese gardening. Meanwhile, it will rationally analyze the normal problems in the use of Chinese modern gardening and the configuration of ancient Chinese gardening to current Chinese gardening. It will promote the unique color of Chinese gardening to be fully used in current Chinese gardening, thus to improve Chinese gardening culture.It is mainly discussed about the use of color in Chinese classical gardening by color theory both at home and abroad to summarize the application rules in northern and southern gardens. The key point is the research on aesthetic regularity in Chinese classical gardening, including the overall layout in classical gardening, law of color changes in functional style, hue laws of gardening elements, the rules of color brightness changes, the applied rules about dynamic and static color and so on. At the same time, the culture meaning of color in classical gardens will be deducted, and the application of color rules to current gardens will be studied.Color geography and four seasons color theory will be applied to discuss the color difference between southern and northern gardens and the causes.
