With the completion of large interconnected power grid, the public have attached great attention to the stability and security of the grid. As the main control system of steam turbine generator unit, the dynamic characteristics of the speed governor system not only affect the economic and safety performance of the steam turbine generator unit, but also the power supply quality of the whole electricity system. Therefore, the accurate simulation model of the steam turbine and speed governor system is very important in the simulation of power system operation, and the issue that the model parameters affect on the stability of power system is receiving more and more attention.Based on the typical turbo-generator unit speed governor system dynamic model which is recommended in the power system simulation analysis software, and combined with the scientific research of State Grid JiBei Electric Power Company Limited, "Research on the Adaptability of the Turbine Parameters and Model Related to Grid", using the analysis platform of the turbine parameters and model related to grid, make some useful attempts in the basis of the traditional model to build a more perfect model of steam turbine and speed governor system. In addition, using the experimental data of the steam turbine and speed governor system parameters testing, do simulation researches on the model which has been built, and the simulation results preliminary prove the fact that the model is correct. Finally, using the real time digital simulator (RTDS), and combined with the analysis platform of the turbine parameters and model related to grid, set up the generator-network coupling real time simulation system and make the joint simulation. Due to low frequency oscillation problem has become one of the important issues that affect the stability of the grid, analyze the resonance mechanism of low frequency oscillation. In the frequency range of low frequency oscillation in power system, because of low frequency oscillation causes the active power changes of the steam turbine, do the simulation researches on the influence of the steam turbine and speed governor system parameters on power system stability, and get the frequency range which each parameter affects the grid stability.
