Active distribution system is the advanced stage of smart grid technology. Energy storage is an important component of the active distribution system. The application of distributed energy storage in active distribution system have a significant impact on network planning, system operation, network topology, fault handling and coordination optimization of renewable energy power. In this paper, a vulnerability assessment indicator system which is adapted to the active distribution system has been researched. And on this basis, this paper puts forward an optimal planning method of the energy storage in the active distribution system. Main contents are as follows.Firstly, the technology development and mathematical model of the energy storage is studied in this paper. Based on the operating characteristics of different energy storage, this paper puts forward the research status of the control strategy and planning configuration of energy storage technology in active distribution system. This paper discusses the mathematical model and economy analysis model of energy storage, and then analyzes the feasibility of vulnerability assessment method applied to the energy storage planning.Secondly, this paper proposes a vulnerability assessment indicator system suitable for active distribution system. The indicator system describes the fragility of the distribution network structure by the global performance indicator based on the complex network theory. And the simulation result proves that the feasibility and effectiveness of the application of vulnerability assessment system in the distribution system.Finally, this paper puts forward an energy storage planning method of the active distribution system based on comprehensive vulnerability assessment. From the perspective of power distribution network operators, this energy storage planning method aim at the optimal economical of the distribution system. The variation of vulnerability assessment indicator of the system before and after set the energy storage is considered as a constraint condition. The simulation result shows that this planning method can achieves a better measure of energy storage of distribution network operation performance in the planning phase, and thus prove the superiority of this method compared with traditional one.
