Inventory Management & Prewention Of Construction Steel Under JIT Environment

With the rapid development of construction industry in our country, how to effectively manage the inventory of construction steels, reduce costs and improve fund utilization efficiency has become a hot issue. Since 2000, under the support of relevant national policies, places throughout the whole country have established many commercial concrete mixing plants. Since then, the concrete needed in building construction achieves JIT distribution, which plays a significant role in increasing the efficiency of building construction, reducing the cost of construction, improving the project quality and shortening the construction period. However, construction steel, which is known as the "skeleton" of building, has always been adopting the inventory management mode of "bulk purchase-field storage", which brings enormous obstacles to the development of enterprises of building construction in our country. How to learn from the management of commercial concrete to manage the inventory of construction steels; how to evaluate the potential risks in the inventory management of construction steels and how to respond to relevant risks have become the problems needing to be solved urgently.Consider of this, this paper firstly systematically summarizes foreign and domestic research status, and defines relevant concepts of JIT philosophy, inventory management and risk management; secondly, by field investigation of engineering project, this paper illustrates the current situation of inventory management of construction steels and characteristics of engineering project construction in details, draws lessons from JIT and commercial concrete management mode with relatively mature application in manufacturing industry on this basis, concludes the background condition for the implementation of inventory management of construction steels under the environment of JIT and management process, makes a detailed comparative analysis on the inventory management of construction steels under JIT environment and its traditional inventory management, and illustrates the significance of construction steels, implementation of JIT management; then conducts systematic risk identification on the risks existing in the inventory management of construction steels under JIT environment, constructs risk evaluation model to evaluate the identified risks, and proposes corresponding countermeasures of risks. In the end, it demonstrates the risk evaluation model constructed in this paper with specific cases.The result of research shows that to implement JIT management on construction steels has huge advantages in increasing efficiency of fund utilization reducing costs, shortening construction period and simplifying field management, but also has some risks. This paper summarizes the process of enterprises of building construction in implementing JIT management of construction steels through field investigation, and proposes corresponding evaluation model and countermeasures, hoping to provide certain reference to enterprises of building construction to implement inventory management of construction steels under JIT environment.
