Highway bridge is one of important infrastructure, plays an important role in the national comprehensive transportation system, bridge foundation scheme will affect the whole economic benefits and social benefits of the project, will have great influence to the surrounding environment. Design and choose the better solution which can satisfy the safe, reliable, economic, and environmental protection requirements, to reduce the project cost, promote the reform of foundation is of great significance.Taking the design of pile foundation of Yangtze river highway bridge approach in Wuhu as the background, this thesis provides a comprehensive analysis and comparison about several pile foundation design schemes. Firstly, the geological conditions at the southern part of Yongdingxu bridge are introduced, and methods for comparison and selection of pile foundation schemes are presented, and several selection factors, such as mechanical properties, construction technology, construction cost and construction period are preliminarily analyzed. Secondly, six possible pile foundation schemes are proposed, and according to these related factors, comparison results of each scheme and are summarized. Finally, the best scheme for pile foundations of bridge is determined from the six design plans.This thesis provides theoretical guidance and technical support for the design and construction of pile foundation of Yangtze river highway bridge approach in Wuhu, and it also accumulates some important engineering experience and could produce remarkable economic and social benefits.
