Abstract/Summary:
Photonic Doppler Velocimetry (PDV) is a novel type of laser velocimetry. It is widely used in the velocity measurement of the shock wave, detonation wave and other short-time high-velocity moving objects. In this paper, a multipoint photonic Doppler velocimetry is developed, which is mainly used in moving objects in the distance. The evolution of the laser velocimetry is firstly reviewed. The advantages and disadvantages of the various of laser velocimeters are analysed and compared. The underlying principle and the structure of photonic Doppler velocimetry are mainly introduced. In hardware part, the laser driver and temperature control circuits are made. A stable and continous working light source is obtained. A detecting unit for the moving objects in the distance is designed and fabricated. The PDV experimental system is set up. In software part, based on the fringe method, a basic PDV data processing program and its software interface are wrItten using MATLAB. The interface is friendly and the data processing is convenient. One can get the velocity, acceleration and frequency of a vibrating object which is far away from detecting unit about1m, and the measurement error is less than1%.
