| This paper introduces the current situation, features and the main structural form of the single-layer and multi-span steel structure workshop. It also summarizes the design theories and methods of the single-layer and multi-span steel structure workshop. It takes the single layer steel structure workshop as the research subjects which is built by a company in Shangdong and uses the finite element method and structural dynamics theory to analyze the the economy, the dynamic characteristics and seismic performance of column size of multi span steel structure workshop while meeting the various kinds of load combinations of the static bearing capacity.In static analysis, 9m, 12 m, 15 m column were calculated multiple programs, with the economy of the whole plant as the criterion, the crane system, frame column, roof wall purlin system, pile foundation design calculation were analyzed and compared to determine the optimalscheme, each column system, and the summary, obtained for the whole plant investment, longitudinal spacing for 12 m scheme has more advantages. In this paper, the process and results of analysis for a similar reference to engineering design.It makes an analysis of dynamic characteristics on the single span and overall structure of single layer industrial workshop. In the value of intensity, analysis result of earthquake response spectrum shows that the displacement of top column of the workshop is reasonable under the action of earthquake. The overall response to the static load is small and shows a good anti-seismic performance.In the rare event of intensity, according to the two selected earthquake waves, it makes a comparative analysis of the selected mode and gets the same result, which verifies the reliability and safety of light steel structure in theory and puts forwards the key points for the design and construction units which are essential for the quality of workshop. It makes a comparative analysis of the internal force of column bottom and the displacement of top column under two circumstances(wind load plays a controlling role or earthquake plays a controlling role) and concludes that earthquake plays a controlling role in the region which the seismic fortification intensity is 8 degree,then the seismic check should be carried out.The paper combines with the actual engineering research, solves the design problem of single layer and multi-span steel structure workshop, provides a lot of technical basis for actual engineering design, saves the project investment.
