The nation has stepped into an aged society now, as the data of the aged population are become more then more large,we’ll be well forced to pay more attention to the special requirement of the building for the group aged.Buildings in mild climate zone,because of the relevant advantage of the weather conditions,have some adjusting space to be regulated for the thermal protect,hence they haven’t been ever paid attention to in designs.In fact,for the aged living in mild climate zone,because the differences of the ages,personal physical features and ways in using space,there must be a special need and satisfaction with the degree of thermal comfort environment in architectural space.Based on studies of the special physiology and psychology of the aged people,and combined with their requirement of the indoor thermal environment,i.e.temperature, humidity,air velocity and radiation,this paper analyzes their feelings and adapting process to the indoor thermal environment,and emphasizes the study on the links between the aged people and natural features of the indoor environment.The aged people have a special physiology and psychology,the value of self-fit coefficient for them has obvious differences with the data set by the national standard named "Evaluating standard of indoor thermal and humid environment for the civil buildings",so,the paper,through a subjective questionnaire and summary from its data,firstly derives with calculation and theory the value of the self-fit coefficient for the aged people living in mild climate zone.The aim is to make the evaluation of the thermal environment to be nearer the real state of the aged,and to let the aged group be more adapted to the buildings designed with such data values.Based on the research above,the paper explores the strategy and methods for the construction of indoor thermal environment in mild climate zone,along with some aspects of site design and architectural design.Then it puts forward four principles which are:1) easy to actualize,2) low technique but be good for use,3) improve obviously,4) excellent pertinence.It there for emphasizes that,under the condition of winter thermal comfort,all design strategy which can be controlled in the stage of design be analyzed and summarized,so as to choose those design strategy with smart adapting features,and let the chosen ones to be the direction to the engineering practice of the center for rest home and restored to health in Yunnan Lufeng county.Finally,for engineering practice,in order to control the outdoor and indoor physical environment with good characteristics and,the author uses the computer software such as Tsun、phoenics、ecotect to make simulations with quantitation for the planning and architectural sketches,so as to give advises to the adaption and optimizing for the design sketches.In this way,the author creates a certain dwelling space with good benefit of health and comfort for the aged people,which is named the center for rest home and restored to health in Yunnan Lufeng county.And it is also hoped that the study and practice within the paper could well be an instance to the similar engineering projects of planning and design.
