Substation grounding system through the electrical system and equipment connected to the ground to maintain safe and reliable operation of the power system. When the system fails, the system will lead the fault current into the earth, to limit maximum system voltage of uplift, so as to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.In recent years, the continuous development of Chinese electric power system, at the same time, due to the grounding system design is unreasonable, grounding resistance does not meet the requirements of large fault currents caused by accidents are common, not only huge economic losses, but also cause serious indirect economic losses to society. Based on this, this paper propose a method to optimize the design of grounding systems so that the surface potential of the uniform, step and touch voltages are significantly reduced.This paper analyzes the significance of the substation grounding system, difficulties and commonly used method to reduce grounding resistance, then the resistance of grounding systems, fault current situation further study soil structure, and establish the corresponding model, in particular the principles and influencing factors were split coefficient analyzed. By considering the impact of the substation grounding system design safety indicators, and proposed a variety of grounding system designs were compared. Finally, Yang Ling, Hangzhou 110kV substation grounding grid, for example, to optimize the design and proposed design scheme to assess their ground grid systems.
