Nowadays, the high-speed railway depends on the electric traction and the scale is becoming more and more big. So studying on various electromagnetic interference on the high-speed railway electrical system is very important, and the geomagnetic storms generated by solar activity is a new issue. Geomagnetic storms have caused the signaling and control system of the railway in Sweden and Russia in errer working. As national high-speed railway is in a short running time, has not yet experienced a full solar cycle, developing monitoring device maybe the most direct way to get the actual impact by using measured data. Based on the existing results, such as the reported events about the geomagnetic storms encroaching on the railway, the analysis methods about the strom effect in power system, and the existing monitoring device of power grid geomagnetic induced currents (GIC), the paper firstly compare the railway with the power system in the difference of the power supply mode, analyze the storms effect mechanism of the high-speed railway system in the form of GIC, ground potential and magnetic field, and find out the difference to obtain the monitoring parameters. Secondly, this paper determine the design requirements by improving the power grid GIC monitoring device, and design the methods to get signal of GIC, ground potential and magnetic field induced by strom. Thirdly, the paper propose the sampling and processing algorithm of GIC, analyze impact of GIC in transformers by build the MATLAB model, through the simulation case to verify the wavelet-denoising and low-pass filter is effective in processing the sampling signal. Finally, the paper discuss the actual installation application of the monitoring device in Hebi.
