Switched reluctance machine (SRM) is very appreciated for its simplicity, its robustness and a low cost for very interesting performances, especially under motor operation (slow machines with high torque or driving mechanisms at high speed), the generating mode being rather marginal. But since the emergence of Renewable Energies the SRM could replace the conventional machines, for example in the aero-generators because it does adapts well at the low speeds of wind. From where we choose this thesis topic. In this thesis the goal is to model and optimize the structure of a double salient SRM 6/4 associated with a half-bridge converter that control circuit that will allow a correct operation both in generating and motor mode. Firstly, the finite element analysis simulation model of the 6/4 pole SRM is built by MAXWELL ANSOFT, and the electromagnetic torque ripple of SRM is simulated. Electromagnetic torque of the machines for different rotor pole structure with a shifting angle of 0,15 and 30 degrees were obtained. And we draw the conclusion that the bigger the shifting angle is the smaller the torque ripple is, but the average torque decline too. Then a co-simulation of ANSYS Simplorer, ANSOFT MAXWELL and MATLAB / Simulink established a joint simulation model of switched reluctance generator for wind power generation system for the different machines..the results obtained are shown and made it possible advantageously to associate this converter unit to a wind turbine. The simulation results show that the feasibility of the switched reluctance motor for wind power generation is feasible.
