Research on power system relay protection in China is accompanied by the development of power technology and gradually in-depth and mature. Relay protection plays a very important role in the power system, it is usually regarded as the first line of defense to ensure the safe operation of power grid. This paper mainly analyses the background grid relay protection key, key circuits and the role of the 750kV system. The article mainly analyze the relay protection characteristics of 750 kV transmission lines, mainly including ultrahigh pressure line fault characteristics and the optimal allocation of fiber optic cable, and the protection configuration of Hami 750 kV switching station.According to the characteristics of 750 kV transmission line system, the aticle analysis and study of 6 divided 750 kV line to ground capacitance, and then studies the influence of capacitance current of the differential protection. The aticle study the ultra-high voltage grid element equivalent modeling, the line of the distributed capacitance and the capacitance current of transient process, the influence of high frequency components, and the constant attenuation time of fault component. Research shows that high voltage transmission line system decay time constant is large, aperiodic component slow attenuation, both of these two factors affect the accuracy of the protection algorithm.Qiaowan 750 kV substation project, for example, analyzes the optimization scheme of optical fiber used in communication engineering, and giving the detailed interface selection and structure optimization design.In Hami 750 kV switching station, the detailed design inside the switch station relay protection configuration, mainly including 750 kV,220 kV and 35 kV voltage levels of protection scheme and public protection configuration scheme, as well as the secondary protection configuration scheme.
