The Interconnections of the bulk electric power grid is being built. The electric power communication network is becoming multi-domain Optical network structure. A growing number of internal and external challenges appear, such as natural disasters and network’s failures. Network failures that are not restored in time will result in incalculable losses. Evaluation of the invulnerability complex power grid communication network and the methods for improving the invulnerability of electric power communication network is becoming more and more concerned in the electric industry.In this paper, the service request of the communication network under complex power grid situation and the QoS of power service are analyzed. Then the invulnerability assessment methodology based on service feature index is proposed. The method considers the effectiveness of various indicators of the service transmission and combines the QoS indicators with the importance of services, based on which the invulnerability assessment model is created. The simulation of electric is power communication network under different attack types shows that the invulnerabiliy results under optimal network attacks and greed attack are relatively bad. Specifically, the more services are concentrated on some links, the worse the invulnerabiliy is. The network invulnerabiliiy can be improved through load balancing using the dynamic link weight updating.Moreover, the difference of level between different types of nodes and the importance of the nodes in the network topology are analyzed. With the consideration of the characters in the electric power field, a new way in the electric power communication network is proposed. Based on the previous work, the gradually decreasing strategy is used to optimize the network invulnerability. The simulation results show that the proposed optimization method to quantify changes in the structure of the network invulnerability against impact is effective.
