As a significant component of urban landscape, a waterfront in a city such as the scenery along a river whose elements are combination of natural landscape and human environment can directly have effects on the impression of the whole city.Recently, with the rapid enhancement of waterfront landscape design in China, people not only complete the function of the waterfront but also improve the quality of citizens’ lives by reforming such filed. However, these areas are always stereotyped currently in China or they often copy the excellent cases from foreign countries. It means they ignore the fact that traditional culture plays an important role in a waterfront. Thus, Chinese cases cannot become better because it lacks of its specific characteristics which can present the regional culture and history well.This essay will focus on the great case about waterfront landscape design and the current status in China. It is also going to present the definitions of Taoism Culture and waterfront.
