The Truss String Structures(TSS),using bar connecting trusses and cables, is a new type of large-span space structures, and also is a transformational type of the Beam String Structures(BSS).Truss string structure is a new type of rigid-flexible hybrid structural system. It has many advantages such function of self-balancing, high stiffness and different kinds of architectural forms, etc. As the concept of the truss string structure was proposed in 1980 s,they are thus used widely in many countries around world currently. Moreover, the innovation and development of the type of the truss string structure are continuing. So it has abroad application prospects.Generally the space TSS is laid by several plane Truss String Structures vertically and horizontally. It’s necessary to research the mechanics performance of plane TSS, it has significant effect on space TSS.ANSYS, a general finite element analysis software, is constantly used during construction simulation checking because of its outstanding nonlinear analysis ability.Moreover, the secondary development functions allow users to create menus and dialog boxes to execute internal functions and APDL programs.With the basic of existed research documentations on the inverted triangle section of TSS, special calculation modules have been developed by APDL and Visual Basic to analyze the mechanics performance of the plane TSS with well interface and interactive operation. After the operators input of different parameters, the calculation program can rapidly build model, loads, solve, etc. At the same time, it will output the result files to the specified folder.With the assistance of the program, the paper has analyzed the static mechanics characteristics of plane TSS in detail, The effects on structure from the number of struts, sag-span ratio, rise-span ratio, prestress of string, section cable section area and Truss high etc has been studied. It is helpful to realize TSS and provides reference for design and construction.
