Usually in the middle of the ballistic missile decoys, jammers and launch debris are flying with the warhead, forming a huge threating targets group. And the targets in the group maintain roughly the same orbits and keep a very close distance with each other.As the primary means of monitoring those kinds of targets, Ground-based radar has some problems by using the traditional multiple targets tracking methods. The radar resources are limited by the hardware and software, so it can’t track all of them if the number of the targets is too much. Because of that, it will cause serious tracking error,and even worse, it may miss the warhead. Therefore, the study on space group targets tracking is of great significance to improve the radar’s multi-target tracking capability in ballistic missile defense.This paper analyzes the way the ballistic missile group targets form, and introduce the character of those particular kinds of group targets. And then, the paper introduced some usual group targets tracking method and analysis them. This paper are alse introduced data association algorithm and tracking filter algorithm which are related to the target tracking theory. Meanwhile, the paper analyzes those algorithms in order to improved them in the following chapter.Subsequently, we propose a group center tracking method based on the clustering,named The Intra-grouped clustering space group targets algorithm(IGC-SGT). In order to obtain the group moving imformation, we need to track the the group as a whole.This paper uses the clustering to obtain the imformation in the group, and then track the clusters. Meanwhile, this paper employs the clusters’ s center to calculate the group center. By the simulations, we can find that the IGC-SGT can keep the group center stable under the conditions of clutter and large errors, compared with the traditional group tracking algorithm.Then, for solving the problem of tracking single targets in group, we improved multiple hypothesis tracking algorithm to adapt to the group targets tracking,named Group Multiple Hypothesis Targets tracking(GMHT). This algorithm establish a method for generating a hypothesis based on the space group targets, and designed eachtrack score calculations and assumptions pruning strategies. This algorithm also design a complete algorithm processes. The experimental result demostrates that the GMHT can improve tracking accuracy and reduce the amount of calculation and improve the tracking performance space group goals.Finally, we design a space group targets data processing system, to integrate the research results of Chapter 3 and Chapter 4. This system not only simulate the real track of space group targets, and also simulate the radar signal processing. The data processing module in this system blend the IGC-SGT algorithm and GMHT algorithm.Finally, we use MATLAB GUI to simulate the system. and make the system simulation comparative experiments. The result of the experiments show that the space group targets data processing system with IGC-GMHT algorithm, is better and more stable than the traditional multiple targets tracking algorithms in tracking single target under the real space group targets environment.
