Flexible AC Transmission System-FACTS is a front topic in the increasingly complicated and various power systems. The aim of the FACTS is to realize the flexible controls of AC transmission systems and to guarantee the stability of AC transmission systems by adopting the newest achievement of electron technology and modern control technology. As one of the important devices of FACTS, the TCSC has many advantages such as simple in structure, low in cost; it can also increase the transmitting capacity of the living wire and guarantee the stability of the system. But the TCSC is a complex system with time-variety and uncertainty. The research on the TCSC is not only significant for the theory but also valuable for the application.Firstly, the thesis introduces the application and research of TCSC at home and abroad. Secondly, the thesis introduces the basic structure and theory of TCSC, which mainly include the reactance characteristic, operating mode and control methods of TCSC. According to characteristic of TCSC and researching achievement of former researcher, this thesis develops a state-equation as a linearized discrete-time control model for TCSC. In the model, Input is the delay angle of thyristor valves, and inductor current is chosen as output.To cope with the problems about the uncertainty and time-variety of the TCSC, the Dynamic Matrix Control algorithm is used to control the TCSC. Then Dynamic Matrix Control is improved by introducing the rate of error changing to the index of the performance to correct the error and overcome the disturbance in time.
