In this paper, working process of reciprocating compressor under different working conditions, transient characteristic of suction valve and crack fault of suction valve plate were studied. Based on the force analysis of valve plate and kinematic laws, valve plate motion control program was compiled and reciprocating compressor working process under different conditions was simulated by using CFD method, which could obtain cylinder gas pressure. And cylinder gas pressure measurement experiment was conducted in order to confirm the simulation result. Besides, valve plate motion law, valve impact speed to valve seat and the transient characteristic of fluid in compressor channel could also be obtained by the simulation. Then the impact stress between valve plate and seat was calculated. Besides, impact stress and natural frequency of crack valve plate were also calculated.Displacement, speed and force of valve plate under different conditions can be obtained by the research of valve transient characteristic. Based on the valve plate motion speed, maximum impact stress of valve plate can be calculated by using ANSYS/LS-DYNA software. Finally, the results of valve transient characteristic and plate crack fault analysis were summarized, which can provide theoretical basis for the optimization of capacity control system, crack fault on-line identification and early warning jobs.
