Currently, all the large and medium-size cities all over the country are busy building their rail transport systems. Due to the large passenger flow of the city rail transport, the door is opened and closed frequently, which leads to a more and more strict requirement on the safety of the doors. As the only access of passengers to get on and off the train, the rail door system’s reliability plays a great role on the proper service of city rail vehicles and the personal safety of the passengers. How to make statistics, analysis and improvement of the quality and reliability of the product become an important task and responsibility of the door system manufacturers.The subject of the article is to study the theory and application of existing Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System(hereinafter referred to as FRACAS), and then establish by considering the actual demands of door system manufacturer Nanjing Kangni Mechanical & Electrical Co., Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as KN) a set of feasible FRACAS operating management system which can satisfy the actual demands, and also develop a set of information software and hardware system to realize the collection of operation data and failure data of door systems in rail transport vehicles, and to make statistics and analysis of the quality and reliability indicators of products base on these data, in order to guide and avoid the same mistake in the full life cycle of the product including design, test, prototype, manufacture, installation and service etc., so as to improve the product’s design, manufacture, service level and to get a better quality, reliability and customer satisfaction.The article firstly describes FRACAS technical theory as well as its application in the door systems of rail transport vehicles at home and abroad. Secondly, the article describes the meaning of designing FRACAS system at KN. Thirdly, it introduces the business requirements of KN FRACAS system, and describes the outline design, detailed design, program code development, test methods and processes of the system base on the demands. Finally, the article makes a summary and describes the prospect of the project.Major functions of KN FRACAS system include management of 30-plus basic data, record of production operation data and failure data, product failure PDCA treatment, product reliability statistics and analysis report together with other reports, as well as user management and rights management etc. Up to now the FRACAS running management system has been established and the operation of FRACAS system is well underway, which has basically satisfied KN requirement of FRACAS running management system.The successful application of FRACAS system in KN has an important demonstration and reference meaning to the whole industry and the car builders, who also intend to establish their own FRACAS running management system in order to improve the quality and reliability of products by the application of the information system.
