Global warming has become the focus of public opinion from all over the world. Under the background of that, the dual drivers of natural and human factors make the high temperature issue intensified, especially in the urban area with dense population. With the current process of rapid urbanization, accurately grasping the development status and the trend of urban high-temperature environment constitutes our most urgent problem, which can improve the intrinsic relationship between urban development and regional climate, as well as promote the sustainable urban development. In a typical stove city, Fuzhou, China, based on the multi-source data (including meteorological observation data, Landsat TM/OLI remote sensing images, DMSP nighttime light intensity and DEM and so on), the paper analyze the spatio-temporal progress, characteristics, strength and range of the high temperature in recent decades. Besides, the combination of methods of correlation analysis and principal component analysis reveal a linkages between the high temperature environment and the urbanization of Fuzhou, as well as the coupling between high temperature and other affecting factors (human activities, ecological environment), from which to explore the main factors and driving mechanism that contribute to the high-temperature environment of rapid urbanization city, Fuzhou. More over, the forecast of high temperature event and urban development guide and scientific disaster prevention and reduction for Fuzhou city can be provided as the empirical basis and useful reference. The results of the study based on the methods above reveal that (1)the warming phenomenon is evident in Fuzhou, with which the global annual average temperature and the trend rate approaches consistent. (2)The spatial pattern of development of urban thermal field appears a radialized trend which start from the inner city and along the river, and its extended range is the same with construction land. (3)The brightness temperature of center city shows obvious polarization, and heat island effect is more significant. (4)The correlation between high temperature phenomenon of the center city and human activities is detected to be increasing gradually. (5)According to the contribution degree, the influence factors of high temperature are human activities, the ecological environment (vegetation) and ground elevation. On the other hand, the paper follows several countermeasures such as the regulation of central city population, the controlling of urban architecture density and the "landscape enclosed" pattern etc. This paper will provide empirical basis and useful reference for the high temperature prediction and development orientation and disaster prevention for Fuzhou city.
