Smart Grid(SG) is the focus of the whole global electic power industry and reprents the developing direction of grid in the future, which includes the whole electric power transformation and transportation chain from the electric power plants to the consumers. Interlligent electric consumption is the key part of SG, which depends on the smart terminal and sensor networks. In this paper, we focus on the designment and implementation of smart terminal.This work first reviews the recent domestic and foreign development of SG research. Then, we analyze the system architechure, function and the interface between the system and the smart terminal, according to the characteristics of SG186, which is the electric consumption system of our country. Next, we propose the design goal and technology requirement of smart terminal.Firstly, we introduce the hardware solution of smart terminal and decompose the function of smart terminal into the basic function, spot operation function, and long-range communication function. Speacially, the security designment of smart terminal is illuminated. Then, we present the software designment and implementation of smart terminal, including working principle, operation flow, and network communication flow, etc.Finally, we test the smart terminal, including terminal function and communication function, fully and detailedly. The test results show that the design goal of smart terminal, in terms of the data gathering, storage, and transformation, is satisfied.
