Tower crane is a kind of lifting machine which can realize the total rotary, widely used in high-rise building construction sites. Existing tower crane structure design mainly adopts the traditional analogy method and static analysis, these lead to the result tower structure has heavy weight and poor dynamic performance, which is one of the important causes of tower cranes frequent accidents. In order to improve design of tower crane from xi ’an Jing Long engineering machinery company, taking QTZ5010 tower crane as the research object and combining with pro/e 3D modeling, finite element analysis technology and modern idea of structure optimization design to do the statics analysis and dynamic research, so as to found the deficiency. Using the modern advanced mechanical optimization design theory to make QTZ5010 type tower crane jib reasonable optimization, which provide a reference for the same model tower structure improve. The major job as following:(1) Using pro/e software to simplify tower crane structure and establishing 3D model of QTZ5010 type tower crane. The use of pro/e and ANSYS data conversion technology can get the required finite element analysis model. Static strength and stiffness of the crane boom structure to be checked in the three kinds of comparatively typical working condition, the result of stress and strain contours and maximum stress and strain position provide reference data for the boom structure optimization.(2) The constraint modal and the free modal analysis about main structure parts of tower crane determine their vibration characteristics which check the dynamic rigidity and strength of the structure and provide the basis for the same model tower design about preventing the resonance.(3) Using eigenvalue buckling analysis method to analyze the stability of the tower structure, obtain the buckling load and buckling modal results of the tower structure under different conditions, which provide a reference for the stability analysis to QTZ5010 type tower structure.(4) A parameterized mathematical model of the tower crane arm structure is established in the ANSYS. For the purpose of structural lightweight, the Sub-Problem and First-Order optimization methods are selected. It is concluded that optimization results quality reduced 11.6% than before optimization. On the basis of optimized structure size, the optimized boom structure finite element model is set up, strength analysis is carried out under the same condition, the analysis results show that the optimized structure size is reasonable.This paper combines the methods of theoretical research and simulation to analyze tower crane’s strength and stiffness and cut down 200kg’s mass. It provides a reference for the improved design of QTZ5010 tower crane structure and reduces the manufacturing cost.
