According to the present problems of precision linear piezoelectric actuator, a new inchworm precision linear piezoelectric actuator was proposed based on the basic theory of inchworm principle. In order to make its structure and operator parameters satisfy the requirement, this research concludes the following studies:(1)The domestic and foreign research status, classification characteristics and development prospects of piezoelectric actuator was introduced;(2)The basic working characteristics of piezoelectric pile were summarized and introduced, lay a foundation for the subsequent actuator’s structure design and parameter of simulation;(3)A new precision linear piezoelectric actuator structure was proposed. The actuator’s flexible hinge and flexible clamping piece structure make it more simple.Because of the adjustable bolt device, the requirement of the machining accuracy is reduced in some way. Then, the flexible hinge mechanism of drive and the parameters of flexible clamping piece of mechanism were analyzed, and the finite element analysis was carried on, to get the the important parameters, such as stiffness, natural frequency;(4)In order to get the performance of the actuator, kinetic models were founded for the clamping system, etc.Three friction models were compared. The improved Dahl friction model was applied in the friction system model. On the basis, the simulation of the system was conducted using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. Then driving parameters, including operation mode, relationship between speed and frequency, relationship between speed and load were analysis. As a result, the performance of actuator is good, and lay the foundation for the future research.
