A high-efficient UTCT can enhance the operational efficiency of the urban traffic. The related researches indicate that the vehicles tend to move in groups, but the control of the traffic signals in the city mainly chooses the timing distributing method, which can’t make full use of the feature that the groups own. Depending on the newly-emerging CVIS(Cooperative Vehicle Infrastructure Systems), according to the comprehensive detection information and predictive analysis, the paper proposed an organizational strategy and a scheduling solution based on the high resolution position information, which is meant to reduce the vehicle delay in urban road intersection and decrease the exhausted pollution from the vehicle as a result.Based on the research on platoon organization algorithm, the platoon scheduling strategy in the intersection, the signal timing optimization in the intersection and so on, relying on the trend of the development of the vehicle-infrastructure communication technology, the paper studied several key problems in the initiative signal control method of the single intersection:Firstly, the existing platoon organization algorithms are mostly based vehicle detection technologies which have low real-time performances, complex logic structures and some other shortcomings. In order to solve the problems, the paper proposed a platoon organization algorithm based on the high resolution position information. The algorithm proposed uses the headway, which is commonly used in the existing platoon organization, gets the specific information through the real-time vehicle-road communication technology, and then organizes the platoon in real-time. At the same time, the algorithm also considers the issues as the platoon organization in single or multi lane, the dynamic update of the platoon and so on.Secondly, since the existing signal scheduling models have the shortcoming that the time cost is much higher when establishing the scheduling strategy, the paper took the timing optimization for the platoon scheduling in the single-point intersection as the research object, and the minimization of the total vehicle delay as the target, raises a platoon scheduling strategy in the single intersection based on the ant colony algorithm. Meanwhile, the paper used the improved disjunctive graph model to describe the strategy briefly.Finally, the paper took the simplified two-way six-lane single-point intersection as example, used the city traffic micro-simulation software to emulate the platoon organization method, and completed the implementation of the platoon organization in real-time. The paper verified the possibility of the related platoon scheduling strategy through the improved ant colony algorithm, and the results indicates that the strategy can quickly find the optimal solution and has a theoretical significance in expanding the active control field of the traffic signals.
