Satellite has a history of decades of development, but in the end of last century, there is a new satellite failure caused the attention of people, on behalf of the event is the several operation in geosynchronous orbit satellite in the solar cell array output power down, cause the limited use of satellite, can’t even use. Foreign scientists conducted a lot of ground simulation test, the problems in the solar array and high output voltage caused by space plasma interaction space problem of electrostatic discharge, for some of the electrostatic protective design measures, and achieved the success of in-orbit application. In China, O ur electrostatic protection research about high busbar voltage battery array is also from earth geosynchronous orbit communications satellites, Through several international cooperation satellite development, summarizes some protective methods and achieved some results.This topic research the high output voltage solar array belongs to a running in low earth orbit satellite, and the short-term power provided by power system for its load is up to 10 kw, which is the first time for a low earth orbit satellite in China requiring such gigantic amount of power. The focus of this project is to determine whether the space environment in low earth orbit and synchronous orbit imposed the same affect to solar array electrostatic discharge and which protection design can solve the practical application problems.First by the electrostatic discharge mechanism of high busbar voltage battery array research, then analyze the geostationar y orbit environment with low earth orbit environment difference, found a discharge is inevitable, to avoid the secondary discharge is a focal point of conducting electrostatic protective design.Using new type of battery discharge threshold ground examination experiment was carried out, Access unprotected state next discharge, secondary discharge voltage threshold, and then through the optimization of cell fabric design, On the basis of equivalent lower voltage between battery string, put forward the wide gap and the protective glue two kinds of electrostatic protective design, through simulation experiment, In the end, the S-shaped non-coating design with wide gap is adopted, for the solar cell array of on-orbit lay the foundation for engineering applications.
