The electrostatic precipitator (ESP) is a very important equipment in environment protection, and it is widely used in collecting of industry dust. Based on applications, a high frequency, high power and high voltage power supply for the ESP was studied and the main process of its development was presented.In the first chapter, the working principles of the ESP and its electric characteristics are described. Several kinds of power supplies for electrostatic precipitator in common use are introduced, while the high frequency converter is considered as the state of arts. At last, problems to be solved in this paper are proposed.In the second chapter, power conversion methods to be applied in the power circuits are analyzed firstly. Electric characteristics and circuit condition of the ESP power supply using the PWM hard-switching method and the resonant soft-switching method are compared. Analyses are proved and switching losses are estimated by simulations. At last, the LCC series-parallel resonant soft switching method is adopted in the high voltage DC power supply.The third chapter is about the design of power stage of the high voltage DC power supply. The topology used is Three-Phase Bridge SCR Rectifier, Single-Phase-Full-Bridge IGBT Inverter, High-Frequency Transformer and High-Voltage Diodes Full-Bridge Rectifier, in cascade respectively. And the designs of each stage are presented.The control strategy and protective circuit are briefly introduced in the fourth chapter and principles of these circuits are described.Experimental results of the prototype are shown in the fifth chapter to confirm the design for high power, high frequency and high voltage power supply.
