The saddle of the tractor semi-trailer plays the role of connecting the tractor and semi-trailer and bearing all kinds of impact load produced by semi-trailer in the process of transportation. Therefore, the quality of saddle has a direct impact on the security of transportation. At the same time, in order to reduce the production cost of the enterprise,it has a very important significance of the lightweight design research for the saddle under the premise of meeting the requirements of the structure strength and stiffness.Firstly, establishing a 3D model of the saddle based on the CREO software and importing it into ANSYS software, so the establishment of 3D finite element model is completed.Secondly, carrying out the static analysis of the saddle in typical conditions and attaining the stress and strain diagram of the corresponding conditions.Again, carrying out the modal analysis of the saddle and getting the first eight order natural frequency and vibration model.And then, combining with the actual road conditions of our country, obtaining pavement irregularities of C-level domain by programming in MATLAB software and convering into excitation signal through importing it into ADAMS software. 1/4 virtual simulation models of the semi-tractor is established in the ADAMS software. The load data on the upper surface of the saddle is gathered by carrying out the dynamic simulation analysis for 30 minutes. Then, the transient dynamics analysis can complete in the ANSYS software with compiling the load data into the array and applying it to the upper surface of the saddle.Finally, putting the lightest quality as the objective function and analysing the saddle lightweight design research by using size parameters optimization method. The lightweight data is rounded. The final results show that the quality of the saddle is 83.33 percentage of the original quality, the lightweight effect is a satisfactory.The lightweight design research of the saddle not only solves practical problems of the related businesses but also lay the theoretical foundation for product design and development. While providing certain reference value for the dynamic analysis and optimal design of other products and having a good social and economic value.
