With the development of transport industry, the hi-speed and professionalization of vehicle, the high-speed train has a fast progress. The hollow axle in high speed train is an important part which always needs renew, so the market of high speed train’ hollow axle in demand is expanded. And at the same time, the hollow axle’ quality close connection with the safety of the passenger, the quality requirement becomes more strict. Traditionally, processing methods of hollow axle are Free Forging, precision forging and machining, and these have the disadvantages of wasting material and the low efficiency. Cross Wedge Rolling is a new plastic forming process which is less cutting or no cutting and has the feature of mass production, applies to the production of axles. With development of modern technology,research on forming process of the high-speed train hollow axle by cross wedge rolling is of important significance.High-speed train axle is an typical revolving part, which is fit for cross wedge rolling technique. It is necessary to study the forming because of the features of thick-walled and hollow, and there are few research about it。This article based on basic theory,researching the rotated condition of the hollow axle, designing the rolling mould depends on the structure parameter of hollow axle, and setting the backboard. Establishing the three dimension model by the software Solid Works and the material mould of 35 Cr Mo, take boundary conditions into consideration, we can get usable result by the finite element analysis software DEFORM. Through the result,analyzing the displacement field, velocity field, stress and strain field, rolling force of the hollow axle forming process. Considering the vital importance of hollow axle to driving safety, in the last part,the article discuss the ovality and damage in radial axial direction of the after-rolling hollow axle. Comparing the working condition of non-mandrel and variable diameter after simulation,analyzing the Influence of mandrel diameter acting on the ovality and damage.In this paper, the result of research on cross wedge rolling axles of high-speed train, provide some reference for this thick-walled and step-shaped hollow axle by cross wedge rolling in the future.
