The pure electric vehicle doesn’t generate any polluting emissions during working, which benefits the environmental protection, especially the cleanliness of the air. Battery power is the only power source for electric vehicles, and it is simplier than hybrid vehicles power system, but the differences between the cells will affect the overall performance of the battery pack. Therefore, the dynamic monitoring of the performance battery and battery management system is crucial. The whole process of the battery management system is directly monitoring and managing electric car battery operation and basic information strategies including battery capacity estimation, equalization, battery failure between the cells diagnostic aspects. In this paper, the following work areas:① different charge-discharge rate for a particular model of a lithium-ion battery charge-discharge test; constant power discharge test under different ambient temperatures.② analysis of lithium-ion battery SOC estimation method: The least squares method and Kalman filter, analysis of the result of the compared simulation of the two methods.③ designed battery management system hardware, and make the collection of battery information as a key design goal, to achieve the the collection of battery voltage, current, temperature and other information.④ with the designed battery management system, go on the battery voltage, current, temperature and other information gathering accuracy test, and battery SOC estimation accuracy test.
