Inductively coupled power transfer(ICPT) is a new type of wireless power transmission technology, it provides electricity to load through inductive coupling with its safety, environmental protection, low maintenance, and strong adaptability advantages get rapid development.In recent years, ICPT technology has achieved a lot of successful cases both in research and practice, got to show its broad application prospect. The relevant theory and design method of traditional ICPT technology and multiple degrees of freedom power pick up has carried on the thorough research and analysis, the results of this study has a good guidance for practical applications. The paper issues that the flexibility of the pick-up mechanism and the electric equipment as well as other related problems. The aim is to enhance the multi-degree freedom power pick-up ability of the pick-up mechanism for the ICPT system.This paper is based on the multi-degree freedom pick-up mechanism of ICPT system, and the main tasks include the following:① The principle of multiple degrees of freedom power pick up ICPT system is analyzed, including the basic composition, the selection of circuit topology structure of system and the comparative analysis of the existing coupling mechanism. And then geometric model of multi-degree freedom pick-up mechanism is designed. The pick-up winding coil direction is determined after analyzed.② The number of coil and position on multi-degree freedom electricity pick up mechanism is determined. The paper combine with the geometrical knowledge, Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction, Maxwell’s equations, and the right screw rule to calculate mutual inductance curve when pick up coil rotates within the space in different ways of winding.③ Self-induction formula of multiple coils in series is introduced, and the magnetic field lines in two series coils whether strengthen or weaken is analyzed, by using the Maxwell’s simulation environment, and then the inductance matrix is listed. The geometry size, number of turns, magnetic core, wire diameter, and the other of the coupling coil is designed which based on the design steps of coil parameters put forward by the paper. The magnetic field line between different parameters of induction coil is compared, and the reasonable coupling mechanism is designed and verified.④ The theory research result on previous section is verified by using the Matlab/Simulink platform, and it also illustrates the feasibility of the system design. Then experimental platform is set up, the pick-up mechanism with multi degree of freedom when rotating at the different directions is verified under the condition of hard and soft witching.
