Seperation Connector is a basic component which is widely used in satellites, spacecrafts,space shuttles and weapons to transfer signals or electric power.It’s reliability will directly influence the reliability of the whole systems.In the production process of Seperation Connector,the large quality dispersion is the main problem.The study on Seperation Connector reliability shows significant economic and social benefits for our society. According to the present problems in robust design of Seperation Connector that the design theory has not been sonsummated,this paper has optimized the parameters’ values and their tolerances,adopting Taguchi’s robust design method,to ensure the Seperation Connector’s reliability.The theoretical calculation of contact components’ force and the bolt connection system’s preload force are the basis of this paper.Based on the Timoshenko theory and the Frye-Morris polynomial model,the contact components’ force is calculated;the contact components’ finite element model is built and simulated;the bolt connection system’s proload force is theoretically analyzed;the bolt connection system’s finite element model is built and simulated; a method for qualitie’s robustness analysis and evaluation is proposed based on Monto Carlo method;the output characteristic is normally distributed based on Kolmogorov method.Through the robust parameter design,the output characteristics of the Seperation Connector can be stable.Through analyzing the factors which influence Seperation Connector’s axial force,the objective functions are determined as the contact components’ force and the bolt connection system’s preload force.The key design parameters are determined by analyzing the influence of related parameter values continuous variation on objective functions.The internal-external orthogonal tables are used for experiment planning. The optimal combination of parameter values is obtained by signal noise ratio and sensitivity variance analysis methods.The qualitie’s robustness is improved by only change the parameters’ central values.Through the robust tolerance design,the Seperation Connector’s tolerance will be reasonable allocated.The internal-external orthogonal tables are used for experiment planning.The tolerance design formulas of the contact components and the bolt connection system is obtained respectively by contribution rate analysis method,which is used for estimating the rationality of tolerance distribution existing.The tolerance schemes of the contact components and the bolt connection system are designed preliminarily.The Cpk design method is proposed.The paper has provided necessary methods for Seperation Connector’s robust design,which can also be applied to other electric products’ design processes.At present,the research results of this paper are applied to improve the reliability of Seperation Connector of some type.
