LED has already been the best choice of the new generation of automobile lighting because of its smaller volume,longer life, lower Power consumption,anti-shake,quick start-up,environmental protection and so on. The application of high-Power white LED to automobile headlamps will be the most important factor of the development in automobile LED markets.Domestic automobile industry has been developed very rapidly and there is a good opportunity to apply high-luminance LED. It is very important to develop LED automobile headlamp for promoting domestic automobile industry.As a high-power LED lighting used in the automotive headlamp, thermal design is one of the key technologies, the effect of a direct impact on the life of the lamp.The whole lamp life depends directly on the quality of the thermal design. When the junction temperature of LED rise, the chip will directly reduce the emission of photons and the emission efficiency. Because of the junction temperature of LED rise will work fatally affected, all kinds of thermal effects will seriously affect the life and reliability of LED devices. In this paper, the current situation for car headlights use LED light source. On the one hand from the LED chip itself considered, the main research and production process enhancement package LED cooling capacity. On the other hand improve the cooling device and optimization, The main way to explore the use of the heat pipe and fin heat sink fins combined. By building a model, simulation, testing the cooling effect, the use of Icepak software for LED headlamp cooling system for the corresponding analysis. Under the same conditions are relatively heat pipe radiator and the cooling effect of the traditional aluminum fins of the radiator.The results show at ambient temperature is 50°C case, LED automotive lighting model temperature up to about 69°C solely on the heat sink cooling down. By increasing the thickness of the fins and fin thickness, etc. optimized to enhance the cooling effect is not ideal.Using a combination of heat pipe and radiator cooling solution, model maximum temperature of about 60°C. Consistent with high-power LED headlamp cooling requirements.Thermal solution of this paper, compared with traditional active cooling fins alone or install passive cooling fan, etc., has the space cannot change under the premise of stability, better use of lights cavity headlamp factor structure itself and cars with conditions, effective and timely dissemination of heat generated and reduce control LED operating temperature, but also low-cost, low complexity, thus ensuring stable LED headlamp. For high-power LED as the light source illuminating the development of automobile headlamp has important significance and reference value.
