With the rapid development of the domestic automobile industry, traffic accidents increased significantly, which has attracted attention of the government and automobile enterprises. However, nowadays most of the occupant protection systems, such as conventional car seat cushions, seat belts and airbags, are designed for adults only. In this case, child passengers might suffer much more hurt than the adults due to their fragile bodies in a vehicle collision. As the car safety equipment for the children and infant, the child occupant restraint system can protect them effectively in the vehicle collision because it can absorb the shock and reduce the damage, which can avoids the second damage. Since the child safety seat is the main part of the child occupant restraint system, the simulation analysis and the performance optimization might have great engineering significance, which will also shorten development cycles and save the cost.In this study, in order to establish a finite element model which is used for ISOFIX child seat crash simulation analysis, a G0+ child safety seat was used which is suitable for babies less than one and a half years old(weight less than 13kg). Child dummy model is obtained by scaling the finite element model of Hybrid III six-year-old child dummy by LSTC. According to the ECER44 regulatory requirements, the frontal collision simulation was set up by LS-DYNA which is a nonlinear finite element analysis software. Finally,we compared the movement patterns, dummy’s head, chest acceleration curve and HIC15 of the finite element model with results of the experimental sled test, so as to verify the effectiveness of the child seat crash simulation analysis of finite element models. The results show that sled test results and simulation results are basically consistent. After confirming the child seat crash simulation analysis of finite element model of correctness, the effectiveness of one and a half years old child dummy finite element model by scaling was guaranteed. Based on these evidence, cushion material EPS of the child safety seat back panel is replaced by the green cushion material EPP, and the conclusion is got from the new frontal crash simulation and the new child safety seat still meet the relevant regulations.
