Centrifugal pumps are widely used in Modern car engine cooling system. Its basic structure contained water pump impeller, shaft and bearing, water pump shell, connecting plate and the belt wheel, water seal device and other parts. With the development of scientific and technological level, more and more high technical requirements of the pump are become people’s propose. Although the original traditional research method and theory of the centrifugal water pump can meet the design requirements in some extent, but with the development of the computer fluid mechanics and its three-dimensional flow field analysis of fluid machinery is widely used in recent years, more and more automobile research and development company, engineering colleges and universities begin to pay close attention to numerical simulation in auto water pump flow. This paper based on CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) theory, carry out performance analysis with the new jetta’s water pump model.Separately carry out the CAD modeling, data grid partition for the auto water pump flow field in the former processing work and loading solution and post-processing work.Using CFD analysis software(FLUENT),carry out numerical simulation under different rotational speed and flow condition, show the velocity distribution on the surface of the water pump impeller, rotating area profile on the static pressure distribution, and the pathline of its internal flow chart, acquired the CFD calculation head, and compared with a large number of water pump real machine performance test experiment, through the contrast data, verify the prediction reliability of a car pump’s performance in CFD commercial software, and studied the key work of the numerical simulation of the water pump.
