Electronic appliances are widely used in power systems, communication systems, transportation, aerospace, defense industry and other fields, playing an important role as a hub-off in circuits and systems. If a failure occurs Electronic appliances, that is the life ends, the operational reliability of the overall system will be affected. So it is much significant to chose high-performance electronic appliances in order to ensure reliable operation of the system, through the failure testing of electronic products and the analysis of performance parameters which impacting the lifetime of electronic appliances. This paper predicts the lifetime of electronic appliances and analyzes their sensitivity based on an effective way of acquiring knowledge, namely rough set theory.First, relay is determined as the specific study object in electronic appliances. Through analyzing the work principle and the failure mechanism of relay, the failure models are given and it is determined that the main cause of failure is relay contact failure. By analyzing the process of relay dynamic contact, the analysis parameters of the test are determined, namely temperature, bounce time, dynamic fluctuations time, dynamic peak pressure drop and static contact pressure drop.Second, after getting twelve groups of HH529 electromagnetic relay failure test data, choose eight groups of the twelve and select the former 10% part of the lifetime to analyze and study. Process the data initially and discrete the data based on boolean logic. This process is achieved by Rosetta software, generating a decision table.Again, predict the lifetime of electronic appliances based on rough set theory, study the impact of parameters attribute to lifetime. Through attribute reduction and obtaining core, the most simple set of attributes is obtained. Then distribute weight on the most simple set of attributes, and analyze the impact of every parameter attribute to lifetime. By extracting of lifetime association rules, study the relationship between the performance parameters and product lifetime. Select the other four groups of test data to verify the usefulness of association rules.Finally, analyze the sensitivity of electronic appliances based on rough set theory, study the impact of the change of parameters attribute to the change of lifetime. Establish the decision table of lifetime sensitivity analysis. Through attribute reduction and obtaining core, obtained the most simple set of attributes. Then distribute weight on the most simple set of attributes, and analyze the impact of the change of every parameter attribute to the change of lifetime. Extract lifetime association rules and express them in words.
