Water is the origin of life, as well as the most precious natural resource for people’s living. However, immoderate exploitation of resources has caused great damage to our environment, thus water pollution became increasingly serious and fresh water reduced year by year. On the one hand, owing to the global climate changes, people suffer extreme weather frequently, urban floods caused by strong rainstorm has become a global problem; On the other hand, the rapid development of urbanization and expansion of population has resulted in water supply tension, which aggravated the contradiction of water resources, reasonably solving the problem of water resources is the prime task during the development of urbanization.This paper mainly discusses the methods and measures of the utilization of rainwater in landscape designing, researches the urban landscape designing which is for the purpose of making use of rainwater resources, and explores how to solve the urban rainwater resources in a comprehensive and scientific manner. It’s helpful in showing the functionality and creativity of water in landscape, and bringing new ideas for urban landscape building.This paper first comprehensively analyses the background and contemporary realities of urban rainwater utilization at home and abroad, and finds the existing problems in rainwater utilization. On this basis, the research purpose, significance and main content were presented. And then it elaborates the basic concept and explains the necessity and feasibility of making use of rainwater in designing landscape. Furthermore, based on the theory of landscape designing, this paper analyses and discusses the methods and measures of water utilization and puts forward the solutions. Finally, it takes the conceptual landscape designing of Rainwater Park as a case study and discusses it.
