| Automobile driving axle housing is one of the main structure of the automobile driving system, which is to support and protect the main gear, differential, axle and so on. The bulging-pressing deforming progress of automobile axle is a new method, which is based on the high internal pressure forming. The bulging-pressing axle housing has the advantages of light weight, great stiffness and strength, high utilization rate of materials, good manufacturing environment and so on. But currently the research group exist long design cycle and high work intensity when they develop the deforming progress of bulging-pressing axle housing. In view of the existing probloms, the research group proposed the design process of the axle housing and its preforming tube to realize parametric modeling, and the design computing process of preforming tube to realize routinization. To reduce computation of the staff and save design time.The medium bulging-pressing axle housing is a large large size variable section tube, its shape is very complex. The shape and size of the medium axle housing’s addtional front-dome plays an important role for the axle housing wether is formed into qualified pipe or not. According to summarizing the design experience, the design criteria of medium axle housing’s addtional front-dome is concluded. Through the analysis of its forming process,the preforming tube’s shape has an important influence on the press forming of axle housing. Based on the traditional design method of preforming tube, the experience formula of its shape design is explored and the new design criteria of the perform tube is summarized.Through analyzing the medium bulging-pressing axle housing and its preforming tube’s shape characteristics in detail, the characteristic parameters that determined each shape are extracted. According to the extracted feature parameters, by using the 3D modeling function of UG software, the configuration design of them has separately carried on. In a medium-sized axle housing as an example, the 3D models of the medium bulging-pressing axle housing and its preforming tube parametric design system is established. The estabished process of the template model is simple and fast, and throughthe establishment of the relations between the size parameters, achieved when changing some parameters value, the template model can automatically change the size, and the the new 3D model is generated to meet the size requirements.In this paper, taking UG as the software platform, and using its second development tool of UG/Open, the special menu and interactive interface of the parametric design system are builded and to meet the needs of users of visualization. By using the database tachnology, the characteristic parameter library of the medium bulging-pressing axle housing and its preforming tube is estabished. Through using the VC++6.0 programming tool, the 3D models of the medium bulging-pressing axle housing and its preforming tube are builed, when the characteristic parameters are input to the interactive interface.The design process of the preforming tube’s characteristic parameters is realized by C++ programming. By comparing the calculated results with the traditional results verify the feasibility of the design system. Using the program to calculate lightened the work intensity of designers and improve the design efficiency of the preforming tube. |
