Drive axle housing is one of the important components in automobile transmission system, which design efficiency&technical content affect competitive power in the market. Traditional method of designing drive axle housing has many drawbacks, such as the complex methods, the overdue time, the material resources consumption and the high cost exist. To overcome those disadvantages, the parametric design system of drive axle housing is developed based on Pro/E after reliability optimizing the drive axle housing to achieve High-Efficiency&economization aims. Main research contents are as follows:(1) The purpose and meaning of this thesis、the history and current situation of CAD Technology&Secondary development based on Pro/E、the main content of this project are discussed.(2) Providing theoretical foundation for reliability optimizing the drive axle housing which chooses cross-sectional thickness of drive axle housing as the design variables and sets cross-sectional areas of drive axle housing as target function and builds interference model of reliability optimizing the drive axle housing.(3)This thesis analyzes system function depending on user’s requirement and briefly introduces development tool of this system in development process.(4)Based on research technique of parametric design and technique of Secondary development of Pro/E. Resource files of menu and resource files of user interfaces were developed in which system of drive axle housing, than based on Pro/E, those technologies which accessing database with ADO and transferring SQL database into Excel and querying the information of components and querying the information of components and fast converting to IGES. PDF. CGM. VRML are interpreted.(5) The system is made up of four function modules after determining its composition, which are as follows:size parameters of the drive axle housing design module and material information of the drive axle housing parts module and so on. And than cross-sectional thickness of drive axle housing reasonably is optimized with fmincon function of Matlab. The system of drive axle housing displays each concrete function of Interface and module and control push-button on the based of Pro/E according to the relevant data of3D model of drive axle housing.Realizing reliability Optimization and function of drive axle housing in this thesis not only improves design efficiency of technicians but realized function of parametric design of CAD systems and was used for reference in parametric design of other products.
