With the development and the adjustment of the national economy, water shortage has become the main factors restricting the development of our country. Due to the water quality requirements and the terrain conditions, the long and large diameter pipeline engineering need to be built more and more. As a kind of large diameter、high pressure、long-life pipeline. PCCP is more and more important in the long distance water diversion project, high pressure water supply engineering, high soil water diversion project, city water improvement and power plant of make-up water, circulating water and hydraulic transmission system. The application of PCCP are major infrastructure projects for the economy, which have a contact about national economy and people livehood. But the structure safety and running stability are the technical issues which need to be focused on.This paper is combined with the project 《Super PCCP pipeline in service structure safety assessment technology research》from Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute and the engineering application of PCCP in the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. With the application of ABAQUS, this paper discussed the security and stability of the large diameter PCCP in the stage of construction and operation. In this paper the main work are as follows:A finite element model was established to consider the PCCP-soil interaction. The finite element calculation was completed on the base of sampling the PCCP finite model. The stress distribution rule was obtained according to the results. Analysis of the pipe body under different water pressure applied to the model was done, which could provide a reference for the operation of the pipe body.Come to the conclusion that under internal pressure 0.6MPa, PCCP stress components are less than the design strength,it can satisfy the demands of PCCP normal use.Simulate the PCCP backfill construction process by ABAQUS. Research and analysis the backfill soil stress distribution as well as the stress changes of the PCCP parts and componments. Come to the conclusion that the pipe come to the oval shape under the effect of backfill soil pressure.
