Aircraft conceptual design system can help designer to design, so that the design quality and efficiency can be improved and design cycle and cost can be reduced. The current Transport Aircraft Design, Analysis and Optimization(TADAO) system has some shortcomings, as the technical route is not perfect enough, the aided design ability is weak, some modules don’t have theoretical analysis and system robustness is insufficient. In view of the above shortcomings, several modules, namely initial sizing module, cabin design module and preliminary design of wing and tail shape module, have been developed, and main parameters sensitivity analysis module has been added. The main content of this thesis is as follows:1) Through review of related aircraft conceptual design literatures and theoretical analysis, a initial sizing method of civil jets is presented. The method can estimate main parameters with only simple inputs. Through review of related aircraft conceptual design literatures and aviation regulations, a rapid cabin design method is presented so that designers can arrange passenger seats, aisles, lavatories, galleys and exits in different classes. Through review of related aircraft conceptual design literatures, a method of preliminary design of wing and tail shape is summarized and the design of wing and tail can be done rapidly. With comparing different technical routes, a method of main parameters sensitivity analysis is presented.2) Based on the methods above, initial sizing module, cabin design module, preliminary design of wing and tail shape module and main parameters sensitivity analysis module with friendly graphical user interface are developed by using of MATLAB programming. These modules have good man-machine interactions, can give empirical data of majority of parameters, help messages and warning messages, can expediently and flexibly aid designers to design.3) Through results of typical case validations of single-aisle jets, double-aisles jets and jets with engines tail mounted, the validity and accuracy are validated. The results determined by the modules are fairly consistent with the reference data.Through results of typical case validations and responses of the students who have aircraft conceptual design courses and use them, the developed modules are proved to be graphical user interface friendly, convenient, simple and easy to use. They overcome the shortcomings of the previous system and can export kinds of figures and data with accuracy. They can be used as an aided tool in civil jets conceptual design, and the main parameters sensitivity analysis module can provide a basis for projects design and improvement. Besides, the system robustness has been improved because the development is based on the MATLAB programming environment and users don’t need to install too many kinds of third party software.
